"September 3rd 2009.The summer break has been a time of considerable activity in Lodge Polmont.The Lodge golfers and bowlers enjoyed their usual competitions and outings and our thanks are due to a number of brethren have been working hard on the Lodge premises over the summer months.Brethren who live locally will have noticed that, externally, the building and surrounds have been smartened up and the garden at the rear has been tidied and a new fence erected.Internally also, the toilets and the kitchen, among other areas, have been given a makeover.On the administration front the Lodge has now been granted a new licence under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 which came into force on 1st September."
The new session begins on Wednesday 9th September at 7.30 pm with a First Degree.All brethren and visitors will be made most welcome."
18th September 2009.Lodge Polmont No 793 held its first meeting of the new session on 9th September. Despite many office bearers being on holiday the brethren present nevertheless saw two candidates receive their First Degree in a fine rendering of the ceremony by RWM Tom Grieve and his team.Visitors from a number of sister lodges received a warm welcome from Lodge Polmont members and the RWM of Lodge Kirkliston Maitland No482, Bro. Gary Sibbald, responded on behalf of the visitors.The Lodge will be holding a Quiz Night on Friday 9th October.Look out for further details.
The next meeting will be a Third Degree on Wednesday 23rd September at 7.30 pm when the business will be Minutes, Accounts and the Third Degree. All qualified brethren and visitors will be made most welcome.
September 23rd 2009. There was a large turnout of brethren at Lodge Polmont No 793 on the 23rd of September to witness RWM Tom Grieve and his team carry out a fine working of the Third Degree on two candidates. There were visitors from some 13 sister lodges present and they were asked to convey fraternal greetings from Lodge Polmont on return to their own respective lodges. There were four reigning masters among the visitors and all four spoke in reply.
The Lodge is holding a quiz night on Friday 9th October at 7.30 pm. This promises to be an entertaining evening and it will still be possible to enter a team or join a team on the evening, so come along and enjoy a good night out. The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday 14th October at 7.30 pm when the business will be minutes, accounts, ballot and Second Degree. All qualified brethren will be made most welcome.
18th October 2009.On the 9th of October Lodge Polmont No 793 held a very successful Quiz Night when members and their guests pitted their wits and general knowledge againstthe questions set by Quizmasters Fleming and Fernie.Thanks are due to all who helped in the organising and running of this event. As well as being a most enjoyable evening for all who attended it also raised a healthy sum for Lodge funds.
At the Regular Meeting on 14th October, RWM Tom Grieve and his team conferred the Second Degree on two candidates in the usual Lodge Polmont manner.Visitors from six sister lodges were given a warm welcome on the evening and asked to convey fraternal greetings to their own lodges. Among the distinguished guests who replied on behalf of the visitors was the newly installed Master of Lodge Camelon No 1456, Bro David Wilson.
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 28th of October when the business of the evening will be minutes, accounts, ballot, First Degree and the nomination and election of Office Bearers.All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome.
1st November 2009. There was a fine turnout at Lodge Polmont No 793 last Wednesday (28th October) when the Lodge elected the Office Bearers for the year to November 2010. On the same evening the members and visitors present witnessed a very fine rendering of the First Degree by RWM Tom Grieve and his team when two candidates were initiated into the Lodge. There were ten sister lodges represented at the meeting and those visitors were given a warm welcome and asked to convey fraternal greetings to their own lodges. Both the RWM of Lodge Ancient Stirling No 30, Bro. James Bolton, and the RWM of Lodge Callendar No 588, Bro. Alistair Crawford, replied on behalf of the visitors.
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 11th of November which will also be the Annual General Meeting and the other business of the evening will be minutes, accounts and a Third Degree. This meeting will start at 7.00 pm. All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome. Brethren should note that the Installation Meeting will be held on 25th November and the Festival of St Andrew will be celebrated on 4th December.
15th November 2009. The Regular Meeting held on 11th November was Lodge Polmontfs Annual General Meeting and was also RWM Tom Grievefs final one as Master of the Lodge as he nears completion of his year in tenure of that office. The Treasurer and Secretary presented their annual reports to the brethren on the progress of the Lodge over the preceding year and, thereafter, the RWM and his team then conferred the Third Degree on two brethren. Visitors from a number of sister lodges were given a warm welcome and asked to convey fraternal greetings to their own lodges. The RWM of Lodge St John, Slamannan No 484, Bro. L McComb and several other visitors all spoke in reply.
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 25th of November at 7.00 pm. when the business of the evening will be minutes accounts etc. and the annual Installation of Office Bearers. All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome. The Festival of St Andrew will be celebrated on Friday 4th December at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.
30th November 2009. A large turnout of members and visitors attended Lodge Polmontfs Annual Installation of Office Bearers on the 25th of November. Almost 100 brethren, including a deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire, saw Bro. John Hunter installed as Master of the Lodge by PM Reginald Weston of Lodge Clackmannan No 1303 and PM Alan Leishman of Lodge St John, Falkirk No 16.
Visitors from the many sister lodges represented were given a warm welcome and asked to convey fraternal greetings on return to their own lodges. The Depute Master of Lodge Camelon No 1456, Bro. Les Wilson, made a suitable reply on behalf of all the visiting brethren.
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 9th December at 7.30 pm. when the business of the evening will be minutes accounts etc. and a Second Degree. All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome. The Festival of St Andrew will be celebrated this coming Friday 4th December at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.
30th December 2009. The month of December has been a busy one in Lodge Polmont No 793. On Friday the 4th, the Festival of St Andrew was a most enjoyable occasion when all members and guests who attended were treated to some fine after dinner speeches and entertainment. The thanks of the Lodge are owed to Mrs Jane Hunter and the other "Club 29" ladies for their hard work in the kitchen. At the Regular Meeting on Wednesday the 9th a brother was passed to the Second Degree in a ceremony carried out by the new RWM, Bro. John Hunter and his team. Finally, on Wednesday 23rd December at a Regular Meeting four brethren received their Mark from a team led by Past Master Derrick Hart.
On the latter occasion, despite the inclement weather, there was a fine turnout which included a deputation from Lodge Zetland No 391, led by their RWM Bro. Sandy Todd. The size of the deputation was more than adequate to capture the Provincefs Travelling Gavel, although Bro. Hunter on handing it over assured Lodge Zetland that they should regard their tenure as temporary since Lodge Polmont would seek to regain possession as soon as possible.
The Lodge will hold a Burns Ceilidh on 23rd January and tickets are selling fast. The next Regular Meeting will be on 13th January when the business of the evening will be Minutes, Accounts and a Third Degree. All qualified brethren will be made welcome.
17th January 2010. Despite the continuing cold weather there was a fine turnout of more than 70 brethren and visitors at Lodge Polmontfs first meeting of 2010 where they witnessed a fine rendering of the Third Degree by RWM John Hunter and his team. At the end of the evening the visitors representing eight sister lodges were asked to convey fraternal greetings to their own lodges. Bro. Tom Stewart, IPM Lodge Dolphin No 911, replied on behalf of the visitors.
On the social front, the Burns Ceilidh on 23rd January is now sold out and a Valentines Night will be held on Saturday 20th February. The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 27th of January when the business of the evening will be minutes, accounts, ballot, First Degree. All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome. Interested brethren should note that the Lodge will be running a bus to the Installation of Office Bearers of The Operative Lodge of Dundee No 47, on Friday 4th February.
31st January 2010. Members of Lodge Polmont No 793 and their guests, who turned out in force on Saturday 23rd January, enjoyed an excellent Burns Supper and Ceilidh. The meal was of Mrs Jane Hunterfs usual high standard and the speakers were all on top form. Thereafter Campbell Hunter and the boys in the band led an excellent programme of dancing. A raffle held on the evening raised £162 for Leuchie House, a Multiple Sclerosis Charity which provides respite care for sufferers and carers.
At the regular meeting, held on 27th January there was again a good turnout to enjoy a fine First Degree ceremony by RWM Bro. John Hunter and his team. Visiting brethren from 7 sister lodges were warmly welcomed into the Lodge and asked to convey fraternal greetings from Lodge Polmont to their respective lodges. Bro. Les Wilson, Depute Master of Lodge Camelon No 1456, responded in like manner on behalf of all visitors.
The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday 10th February when the business will be minutes, accounts etc. and a Second Degree and an emergency First Degree meeting will be held on Wednesday 17th February, both at 7.30 pm. All qualified members and visitors are welcome. The bus for the visit to Dundee will leave at 4.00 pm prompt on Friday 5th February.
7th February 2010. A deputation of about 30 members of Lodge Polmont No 793 travelled to The Operative Mason Lodge of Dundee No 47 on Friday 5th February for the Installation of Bro. Robert Sharp and his office bearers. This was a long but most enjoyable evening for all who attended in support of Bro. Sharp, who is also a member of Lodge Polmont.
The next meeting of the Lodge will be an emergency First Degree meeting to be held on Wednesday 17th February at 7.30 pm to which all qualified members and visitors are welcome. The General Committee will meet on Monday 15th February and a Valentinefs Night will be held in the Lounge on Saturday 20th February.
@28th February 2010. At an emergency meeting of Lodge Polmont No 793 held on the 17th of February an excellent First Degree ceremony was conducted by the RWM Bro. John Hunter and his team and on the following Wednesday, 24th February, they conferred the Third Degree on a candidate. Both occasions were well attended, particularly the latter considering the decidedly inclement weather on that evening. Those in attendance included the usual healthy number of visitors whom we are always glad to welcome into Lodge Polmont and who were asked to convey greetings from Lodge Polmont when they next visit to their own respective lodges. Bro. Gary Clubb, IPM of Lodge Camelon No 1456 and Bro. George Robertson, Past Provincial Grand Master of Forfarshire replied on behalf of the visitors on the 17th and 24th respectively..
The next meeting of the Lodge will be held on Wednesday 10th March at 7.30 pm, to which all qualified members and visitors are welcome. The business of the evening will be minutes, accounts and Second Degree. A Deputation from Lodge Polmont will visit Lodge Callendar No 588 on Monday, 15th March to confer the First Degree.

5th April 2010.There were almost 80 brethren and visitors in attendance at Lodge Polmont No 793 on Wednesday 24th March to see a Third Degree carried out by a team of Past Masters of the Lodge, led by Bro. Bill Fleming.This is one of the highlights of the Lodge calendar and as usual it was a most entertaining and impressive working of the ceremony.That attendance was surpassed the following Wednesday, 31st March, when 100 brethren were present on the occasion of a visit by a deputation from Lodge Camelon No 1456.The deputation was led by their RWM, Bro. David Wilson, whose team gave a fine rendering of the First Degree ceremony.At the conclusion, old acquaintances were renewed and new bonds forged between the members of both lodges.
The Lodge Retired Members and Widows Easter Treat will be held on Saturday 10th April.There are still some tickets available for the Lodge Sportsmans Dinner on Friday 30th April which is forecast to be a highly entertaining evening with excellent speakers.The next Lodge meeting will be on Wednesday 14th April at 7.15 pm.This meeting is the annual Provincial Grand Lodge visitation and the business of the evening will be minutes, accounts and a Second Degree.All members and visitors are welcome."
18th April 2010.A large deputation from The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire led by the RWPGM, Bro. John McKenzie, paid their annual visit to Lodge Polmont No 793 on Wednesday 14th April.A total of 120 brethren were present on the evening and they witnessed a fine working of Lodge Polmonts Second Degree ceremonial by the RWM, Bro. John Hunter, and his degree team.At the conclusion of the ceremony Bro. McKenzie congratulated Bro. Hunter on the work of the Lodge during the year and thereafter he intimated that it was his most pleasant duty to confer Honorary Provincial Grand Rank on PM John Scott of Lodge Polmont for his long and devoted service to Lodge Polmont, in particular, and to Freemasonry in general
The Lodge Retired Members and Widows Easter Treat was held on Saturday 10th April and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.Entertainment was provided by Breeze.The Lodge Sportsmans Dinner on Friday 30th April has now completely sold out.The final meeting of the Lodge this session will take place on Wednesday 28th April when the business of the evening will be minutes, accounts and a ballot and a Mark ceremony will be worked by a team of brethren from Alexanders.
2nd May 2010. At the final meeting of Lodge Polmont No 793 for this session on Wednesday 28th April a fine turnout of brethren and visitors were welcomed into the Lodge by the RWM, Bro. John Hunter. The visitors included a deputation of brethren from Alexanders who, in an excellent working of the ceremony, conferred the Mark on three eligible brethren. Visiting brethren were asked to convey greetings from Lodge Polmont to their own lodges on their return and Bro. Robert Sharp, RWM of The Operative Mason Lodge of Dundee No 47, replied in suitable fashion on behalf of the visitors.
The Lodge Sportsmans Dinner on Friday 30th April was an outstanding success when a full house enjoyed an excellent meal and some entertaining and highly amusing after dinner speaking by John McKelvie, Stuart Kennedy and Sandy Strang. The Lodge will resume after the summer break with the first regular meeting on Wednesday 8th September.
